An Attorney Can Help You If You Have Been Injured
Sometimes, a Sacramento traffic crash leads to minor injuries, but others can result in serious trauma requiring hospitalization and a recovery period where bills go unpaid while you are unable to work. When someone else is negligently responsible for causing an accident, an injury lawyer can help get compensation for the injured party. Those extra bills and lost wages can be dealt with by recovering compensation awarded in a claim so that the injured party can focus on getting well without facing financial distress.
An Automobile Accident That Results in a Head Injury
It is common for Sacramento traffic crashes to result in head injuries. There are a number of types of head injuries, ranging in severity from a simple bump to various traumatic brain injuries that can be life-changing or even fatal. When a person is involved in a car accident, they should be examined by a physician, especially if injuries are sustained. There are several types of brain injuries that may be incurred in a Sacramento traffic crash, including the following, which are common:
- Contusions: An injury to the head caused by striking a fixed object in a vehicle is called a contusion. It can cause concentration difficulties, balance and coordination issues, as well as other symptoms.
- Concussions: In a concussion, the brain suddenly moves inside the skull, resulting in an injury. It typically takes six months for most concussions to heal, but more severe ones may cause dizziness, headaches, confusion, fatigue and other symptoms that can be persistent, especially if it has happened before.
- Hematoma: The hematoma is the result of a blood clot that has formed near or in the brain. There can be dizziness, drowsiness, uneven pupil sizes and even loss of consciousness as a result of these conditions.
- Hemorrhage: There are two types of bleeding: external and internal bleeding. The swelling of the brain caused by hemorrhage can be life-threatening, requiring emergency surgery. Seizures, headaches, vision changes, and severe headaches are among the symptoms of this condition.
