Accident On Hwy 70 Today Marysville Ca

Woman Loses Life in Marysville Crash

I’m Ed Smith, a Marysville wrongful death lawyer. Local authorities reported that a woman lost her life in an accident that took place on a Marysville area highway during the night of Friday, June 1, 2018. The crash also sent one man to a hospital with significant injuries. California Highway Patrol (CHP) noted that the collision took place between two vehicles and that the cars struck each other head-on. The Yuba County Sheriff’s Office is still notifying the woman’s family about the tragic accident and has not yet reported her identity.

My condolences go out to the mourning friends and family members who have been affected by this tragedy.

Crash Information

CHP’s report says that the accident happened on Highway 70 in the Marysville area. Officers stated that they were first notified about the crash by phone at about 4:20 p.m. A 37-year-old man had been driving a 1996 Ford Explorer south along the highway when he attempted to make an unsafe turn to cross the median. As a result of the turn, the Explorer entered the path of a 1998 Toyota Corolla in the northbound lane.

After the two vehicles crashed head-on, they came to a stop blocking both the southbound and northbound lanes of the highway. Both vehicles received significant damages during the accident.

Injuries

After receiving the call, CHP dispatched emergency responders. The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department, Marysville Fire Department, CHP, CalTrans, and staff from Bi-County Ambulance all assisted in responding to the accident.

Responders reported that they found the Ford driver with serious injuries. The man was transported to the Rideout Memorial hospital for treatment. Sadly, the woman was found with fatal injuries and passed away shortly after the accident took place.

Investigation

CHP is currently investigating this crash to find out what factors caused it to happen. However, during an investigation at the scene of the incident, officers said that they suspect the driver of the Ford may have been driving while distracted.

Distracted Driving

One of the most dangerous risky driving behaviors is distracted driving. The National Traffic Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) has reported that over 3,000 people lose their lives in distracted driving accidents every year. Drivers who drive while distracted by their mobile phones or other devices are considered to be driving recklessly, and reckless motorists can often be held responsible for the damages they cause. In cases of wrongful death, these damages can include a variety of losses such as hospital bills, funeral expenses, loss of emotional support, and more.
