Alleged Chico DUI Injures Pedestrian
Officials stated that a pedestrian was seriously injured during an alleged Chico DUI accident that took place on Sunday, November 10, 2019. The accident involved two vehicles in addition to the injured pedestrian and took place at a major intersection within Chico during the early evening. According to the Chico Police Department (CPD), one involved driver has been placed under arrest on charges related to driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and causing injuries. Reports from hospital staff indicated that the pedestrian is expected to survive despite suffering major trauma.
Crash Details
The accident happened at about 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Esplanade and Cohasset Road. CPD stated that a 63-year-old woman and another driver were heading north on Esplanade when both vehicles struck a pedestrian crossing the roadway. Reports indicate that the man had been crossing outside of a crosswalk, and both drivers told police that they did not see the man until it was too late to completely stop their vehicles.
Emergency responders reaching the scene of the accident found that the pedestrian was critically injured and had him rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported as a result of the crash. Details about the pedestrian’s injuries were unavailable at the time of reporting.
