Anderson Big-Rig Crash Results in Multiple Injuries

On Friday, October 30, 2020, an Anderson big-rig crash left more than one person with significant injuries. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) released reports indicating that the crash happened on a local highway and involved multiple vehicles, including a large commercial truck. Additionally, responders indicated that one of the vehicles caught fire as a result of the incident, threatening vegetation in the area. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.

Crash Information

The crash happened at approximately 6:50 p.m. on the northbound side of Highway Interstate 80. While specific details about the events leading up to the collision have not been reported, police did state that a big-rig and Dodge Charger both traveled off-road and down an embankment off the side of the highway. Police also reported that both of these vehicles sustained major damage during the crash. In addition to the Charger and big-rig, a Chevrolet pickup truck was also seriously damaged during the accident.

Response

The crash was promptly reported to CHP dispatch, who sent out an emergency response team to the accident site. Officials at the scene reported that the Dodge Charger caught fire during the collision and that the flames were threatening nearby vegetation. However, fire crews were able to extinguish the vehicle before the blaze spread.

CHP reports indicated that at least two injured individuals were located at the scene, but did not provide specific information about the severity or nature of their injuries.

Investigation

As CHP officers investigate this collision, no likely causes have been suggested. Big-rig collisions often happen for a number of reasons, many of which are considered non-driver accident factors. These kinds of collision factors include common things like issues with truck or car parts, dangerous roads, and more.

Burn Injuries

Vehicle fires pose a serious risk of burn injuries, especially if occupants are unable to quickly extricate themselves following the accident. Burn injuries are very destructive to bodily tissue, meaning that they can cause lasting injuries that require extensive medical care in order to heal. Truck Accidents and Taking Quick Action

After big-rig accidents, it’s critical to get in touch with an attorney as soon as you are able. This is because big-rigs are typically owned by holding companies, and these companies usually act quickly and aggressively in order to defend their interests and disclaim responsibility for damages. In many cases, the company will employ its own legal team to respond to the accident. By gathering their own evidence at the scene and taking fresh statements from witnesses, these companies can make it very difficult for injured individuals to obtain fair compensation.
