Anderson Hit-and-Run Investigation

Anderson Hit-and-Run Investigation

I’m Ed Smith, an Anderson car accident lawyer. One person suffered severe injuries in a hit-and-run crash in Anderson. The Anderson Police Department (APD) reported that the accident, which happened during the evening in low-light conditions, caused one vehicle to overturn. Authorities stated that one of the drivers, who was part of the crash, drove away from the collision scene. Anderson Police have conducted a search to find the missing driver. At the time of this reporting, the suspect had not yet been found.

APD has not released any other details about the accident. However, it was reported that the crash occurred near the intersection of Quail Lane and Riverside Avenue, between Highway 237 and Highway Interstate 5 on the northern side of the city. APD also stated that the time of the accident was around 9:40 p.m. Only one person was found to have been inside of the overturned car when responders arrived at the scene of the crash, and only two vehicles were involved. While the specific injuries that the driver suffered were not mentioned, officials did note that the motorist sustained severe trauma.

What Do I Do after a Hit-and-Run?

When hit-and-run crashes occur, many people are unsure of what they should do. Worries about how to pay for medical bills when there is no at-fault driver to hold responsible often cause people to refuse treatment they need. However, If you have been seriously hurt or suspect that you have suffered a non-visible injury, the most important thing to do after a hit-and-run is to seek proper medical care. Seeking immediate care after an accident is not only crucial for your health but can also help you later on when you are trying to claim compensation for your injuries. Refusing help after a crash can cause insurance companies to doubt the seriousness of your injuries and might affect the amount you are paid for them.

Reporting the Crash

The second most important thing to do after a hit-and-run is to report the accident to local authorities. Under California law, accidents that cause injuries, wrongful deaths, or more than $750 worth of property damage must be reported to the DMV. However, this isn’t the only reason that you should report a crash. Reporting an accident as soon as you can is also vital to investigators. The sooner that police are able to open an investigation, the higher chance there is that the responsible driver is found and held liable.
