An intersection crash in Antelope caused minor injuries on February 13 and involved three vehicles. The collision happened around 6:25 p.m. along westbound Elverta Road at Watt Avenue, partially blocking the intersection. A Toyota Sienna van, Ford F-350 pickup and Ford Escape were involved in the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) report of the incident.
Authorities Determining Cause of Three-Vehicle Intersection Crash
One vehicle exhibited major front-end damage, while the other two showed signs of a side impact. An investigation is underway by authorities to determine the reason the accident happened.
Causes of a Three-Vehicle Accident at an Intersection
A three-vehicle intersection collision can occur due to a variety of different factors. Driver distraction, impaired driving and poor visibility are some of the most common causes of these kinds of accidents.
Distracted Driving
Distraction is the biggest factor when it comes to three-vehicle intersection crashes. Distracted drivers may not be able to stop in time or may not be paying attention when another vehicle enters the intersection. This can lead to a chain reaction of collisions, resulting in significant property damage and serious injuries.
Drunk and Drugged Driving
Impaired driving is another major factor that can lead to three-vehicle intersection accidents. Impaired drivers are often unable to react quickly enough when another vehicle enters the intersection, resulting in a crash.
Government Negligence
Finally, visibility can be a major factor in three-vehicle intersection crashes. Poor lighting or obscured signs can make it difficult for drivers to clearly see the intersection and other vehicles approaching. This can lead to collisions between cars that may not have seen each other in time. If poor visibility causes an accident, the responsible government entity may be held liable for injuries or fatalities. You have only six months to place a claim, so contacting an accident attorney for help might be advisable.
How a Lawyer Can Help You Recover Compensation in an Intersection Crash
When you are involved in a three-vehicle intersection crash, it can be difficult to determine who was at fault. Often, all drivers may have played some role in the incident. If you or someone you care about has been injured as a result of an accident, an experienced lawyer can help you recover the compensation you deserve.
The first step in recovering compensation is to investigate the crash and determine who was at fault. A lawyer will review all available evidence, including eyewitness accounts, police reports, photos of the scene, video surveillance footage, medical records, and more.
Once fault has been established, your lawyer can then help you identify all of the parties that may be liable for your injuries. This could include other drivers, vehicle parts manufacturers, roadway designers or builders, and others.
Calculating Your Recoverable Damages in an Intersection Crash
Your lawyer can also help calculate the full value of your damages. This includes both economic and non-economic losses, such as lost wages, pain and suffering, and more. Your lawyer can then negotiate with the defendant’s insurance company to make sure you receive a fair settlement.
