Folsom Boulevard Accident Injures at Least One Person
A two-vehicle crash in Antelope on November 2 caused at least one person to be taken to the hospital. The accident happened along Folsom Boulevard and La Quinta Drive around 4:31 in the afternoon, according to the report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Following the collision, which occurred between a Honda Civic and an Acura, one vehicle ended up blocking the roadway, and the other was thrown into a ditch. One of the cars also struck a tree.
Investigation Into Cause of Two-Vehicle Crash Underway
Upon arrival by first responders with the Sacramento Fire Department to assess injuries, at least one patient was taken to Kaiser North for added evaluation and treatment. The CHP is conducting an investigation into the accident to find out how it occurred and place fault.
Two-Vehicle Accidents
Two-vehicle crashes are the most common, and many of these collisions occur at intersections. When traffic is controlled by a light, and vehicles are coming from all directions, an error by a motorist can easily lead to a crash. Some of the reasons these accidents occur include:
- A driver that runs a red light or stop sign can easily cause a collision.
- Speeding is a big culprit in many types of accidents. A driver who is speeding is more at risk of losing control of the vehicle and needs a much longer area and time to stop.
- Distracted driving is the main type of negligence these days that can contribute to a two-vehicle crash. Texting or talking on a cell phone, eating and drinking while driving, and other distractions are often to blame.
- Drunk driving is still a major reason for a two-vehicle accident. Those who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, even some prescription or over the counter medications, are a danger to others sharing the roadway.
- Fatigued driving is a risk at any time but especially after dark. Some motorists perform shift work, and the change in hours can be tiring. Others may have stayed up too late the night before or have undiagnosed sleep apnea, or taking a medication that makes them sleepy.
Areas of Investigation in a Two-Vehicle Crash
An injury lawyer can help a person who has suffered trauma from an accident obtain compensation that is fair. Our investigators are experienced in collecting the evidence needed to support our client’s compensation claim. Some of the areas where evidence is gathered include the following:
- Accident reconstruction is performed. It can indicate the vehicles’ positioning, how the accident occurred, and may point toward fault.
- Witnesses are interviewed to understand what they saw and look for statements that corroborate the injured person’s account.
- The report on the accident filed by the police is checked to ensure its accuracy.
- Road and traffic surveillance cameras in the vicinity are checked to see if the two-vehicle accident was captured on film. This type of evidence is widely used by insurance companies and in court.
- Signs of government negligence are checked. Because a government entity is in charge of maintaining and designing the streets and intersections, problems with them can lead to an accident. These problems may include potholes, branches that overhang a stop sign, malfunctioning traffic signals, and poor lighting. The entity in charge of maintenance may be held responsible for injuries in these cases.
