Deadly Crash in Antioch
A bustling shopping center in Antioch became the epicenter of a tragic and fatal automobile accident on the night of Friday, November 11, 2016.
What Happened?
A female motorist was behind the wheel of her white pickup truck traveling westbound along Lone Tree Way in Antioch. For unknown reasons, she failed to stop her vehicle for a red traffic light signal which resulted in her vehicle colliding with a car turning into the Slatten Ranch Shopping Center. Upon impact, both vehicles then crashed into another vehicle that was exiting out of the shopping center. The collision caused the pickup truck to roll multiple times on the roadway. Police officers from the Antioch Police Department and Brentwood Police Department immediately responded to the scene of the crash to assist the occupants in the vehicles along with the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, and the American Medical Response.
What is the Condition of the Involved Parties?
According to Rick Smith, a Sergeant for the Antioch Police Department reported that three individuals were injured and one passed away in the accident. The female motorist of the white pickup truck was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and was ejected out of her vehicle. The female driver was the only occupant in her vehicle and was found deceased on the side of her vehicle. The three injured occupants were taken to local hospitals to be treated for minor injuries.
Who Caused the Accident?
The Antioch Police Department Traffic Unit is currently investigating the cause of the accident. However, authorities do suspect that alcohol and speed played a factor in the cause of this accident. Investigators have not released additional information about the accident at this time.
