Antioch Man Injured in Motorcycle Accident
A man was involved in a serious motorcycle crash in Antioch over the weekend. The man suffered traumatic injuries after losing control of his motorcycle at a very high rate of speed along Hillcrest Avenue.
What Happened?
On Saturday, November 5, 2016, at around 2:00 p.m. Contra Costa County firefighters were summoned to a motorcycle accident on Hillcrest Avenue in the vicinity of Terrace View Avenue in Antioch.
They arrived on the scene to discover a motorcyclist injured on the ground. First responders requested Antioch Police for traffic control and a second engine.
According to Antioch Police Department, officers showed up at the scene of the accident and determined that a 49-year-old man from San Francisco had been riding his motorcycle northbound along Hillcrest Avenue. Officers indicated the cyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed just before impact. Sadly, the man lost control of his motorcycle and made an impact with a tree located in the center median along Hillcrest Avenue.
The injured motorcyclist had to be transported to an area hospital. His condition was reported as critical but stable.
Was the Motorcyclist at Fault for the Crash?
It is too early to know for sure. It generally takes an investigating agency 7 to 10 days to conduct an investigation and release a traffic collision report. It does not appear that alcohol and/or drugs were a contributing factor in this crash. It is important to call an experienced motorcycle accident lawyer when you or someone you love has been involved in an accident. An experienced attorney will investigate the sequence of events leading up to the accident to determine if other factors were an issue. In some crashes, another vehicle may have been involved and simply left the scene. Sometimes an improperly planted or maintained tree can impede the view of motorists and can contribute to a victim’s injuries. Contact an experienced motorcycle accident lawyer for more information.
