Woman Injured in Accident in Arden Arcade

A multiple-vehicle accident in Arden Arcade happened at the intersection of Fair Oaks Boulevard and San Ramon Way at 7:47 in the morning on December 10, 2019. Four vehicles were involved and described as a Honda, Ford pickup, Toyota, and one other by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). A woman in one of the vehicles reportedly suffered a chest injury, and emergency personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department were called to the scene. The woman was transferred from the accident site to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. There is no word yet as to the nature of the woman’s injuries or whether they are life-threatening. All vehicles were moved to the right-hand side of the road. The CHP is actively investigating the crash to determine how the accident happened and to establish fault. As of this time, there is no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved. No arrests have been made.

Reasons for a Multiple-Vehicle Accident

There are many reasons for multiple-vehicle accidents:

  • Debris: When a truck loses its load, debris is scattered on a roadway. The risk of a multiple-vehicle accident is high.
  • Traffic slowdowns: We’ve all seen traffic slow to a crawl on a highway. You might have been traveling at 55 mph one moment and needed to downgrade to 20 mph the next. When a driver to the rear is distracted, the likelihood of a rear-end collision is high.
  • Speeding: Driving above the speed limit can make it harder for drivers to stop or slow down in response to slowed traffic. This is the cause of many multiple-vehicle crashes.
  • Distracted driving: Aside from rear-end collisions, distracted driving makes it impossible for a driver to be alert to what is going on around them. This leads to many accidents.
  • Fatigue: If you are too tired to drive and take to the road, it is possible for you to cause a multiple-vehicle accident. All it takes is closing your eyes for a few seconds for a crash to occur. Take a nap before you leave, or pull over to the side of the road to rest.

Who Is Liable for a Multiple-Vehicle Accident?

Multiple-vehicle accidents are complex, and determining who is liable for damages can be challenging. That is why you need an experienced car accident lawyer at your side. In many cases, a driver who is distracted fails to notice a slow down and slams into the vehicle ahead, starting a chain reaction. The drivers in the cars ahead of a distracted driver are not liable even if the initial accident pushes them forward into other vehicles. However, sometimes, cars will be pushed out of their lane, causing them to strike a vehicle alongside them. As the series of crashes progress, drivers begin to blame each other, and sorting it out takes the skills of a seasoned attorney.

Dangers in a Multiple-Vehicle Accident

One of the major dangers associated with multiple-vehicle crashes is that the same vehicle can be hit repeatedly. Once the airbags are triggered, they are useless if the vehicle is hit a second time. This is what happens in a multiple-vehicle accident, leaving the driver and his or her passengers vulnerable.

How an Injury Law Firm Can Help

At our firm, we’ve seen multiple-vehicle accidents cause devastating injuries and deaths. It is important for us to establish how the accident happened, so compensation can be obtained. To do that, we send our investigative team to the accident site to gather evidence. This process begins with mapping out how the crash progressed by using accident reconstruction techniques. Our investigators also speak to witnesses, obtain video footage that captures the accident and examine police reports for inaccuracies. Once this phase is completed, the evidence is given to our lawyers who use it to build a strong case for our clients.
