Bicyclist Killed in Hit and Run Accident

On Monday, April 25, 2016, a woman succumbed to the injuries she received after being struck by a car while riding her bike in the Arden area of Sacramento.

What Happened?

A 46-year-old female bicyclist was struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Arden area at the 1800 block of El Camino Avenue in Sacramento.  The incident happened around 8:10 p.m. just east of Interstate 80.  The woman was transported to the hospital. Sadly, she sustained life-threatening injuries and died a short time later at the hospital.

Did Authorities Find the Hit and Run Driver?

Yes. Thankfully, witnesses came up with a good description of the suspect’s vehicle as well as the license plate number. Police responded quickly and were able to locate the suspect’s car in Sacramento.

Ashley T. Mauling, 32, was detained and subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. She is also facing charges of endangering the life of a child.

We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of the bicyclist who lost her life.
