Arson Suspected, North Highlands
Sandy Jones, 52, of North Highlands is trying to fight a very rare form of cancer.
On Labor Day, Monday, September 7, 2015, she had to also fight to escape a house fire that engulfed her home on Ashcroft Avenue in North Highlands.
The fire erupted in the garage just before dawn. It quickly spread to the kitchen area.
Total damage from the fire is estimated to be around $75,000.
Jones, we have learned, appears to have insurance coverage.
Second Fire in a Week
What makes this story even more troubling is to learn that fire investigators believe this fire is the work of an arsonist.
Equally, disturbing is that less than a week ago, a trailer on her next door neighbor’s property caught fire in the early morning hours.
So What Is Going On?
Unfortunately, it is just too soon to know for sure. An investigation is still underway to see if the two fires are related.
The remains of the trailer, just a pile of burnt wreckage, sits just adjacent to Jones’ home.
Condition of Jones
Jones was able to escape from the fire without injury. She is in a safe place and is recovering from this awful experience.
The medication Jones is required to take for her third bout with a very rare form of cancer, is extremely expensive.
