I’m Ed Smith, an Atwater personal injury lawyer. An Atwater man was riding his motorcycle near Atwater on the evening of Thursday, September 7, 2017. The motorcyclist was struck by an alleged hit-and-run driver. The collision, unfortunately, caused the injured party to suffer traumatic injuries.

What Happened?
A 1990 Honda Accord was involved in a collision with a 2006 GMC SUV in a Food 4 Less parking lot along Shaffer Road in the vicinity of Juniper Avenue and High Street. The Honda allegedly collided with the GMC and fled the scene following the crash. The motorist of the GMC, identified as an Atwater woman, followed the driver of the Honda. This resulted in a high-speed pursuit.
High Speed Chase Results in Motorcycle Accident
According to authorities from the Atwater Police Department, the chase continued through multiple streets before entering High Street at an alleged high rate of speed. The driver of the Honda attempted to conduct a turn onto Juniper Avenue after allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign. However, the motorist was unable to negotiate the turn and collided with a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle carrying a 45-year-old Atwater man.
Hit-and-Run Driver Abandons Vehicle
The driver of the Honda continued following the motorcycle accident and crashed into a nearby home’s backyard. The motorist allegedly abandoned the vehicle and was last seen fleeing on foot along Juniper Avenue.
Was Anybody Injured?
The rider of the Harley Davidson motorcycle was identified as Eddie Torres of Atwater. Torres suffered severe injuries and was transported via air ambulance to a local hospital in Modesto for treatment. An update on his condition has not yet been released.
