Two Injured in Auburn Lake Trails ATV Crash

Two women suffered serious injuries in an ATV crash on Thursday, May 12, 2016.

What Happened?

Officials indicated that two women were seriously hurt and taken to the hospital after an ATV crash at Auburn Lake Trails.

The Placerville Division of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) dispatched their air unit to the Cool, California area after a reported ATV crash.

At the crash site, air rescue teams discovered that an ATV had rolled down a steep ravine.

Three people had been on-board the ATV, two women, and one man.

The video below shows the rescue efforts.

What Were Their Injuries?

A 52-year-old woman had to be airlifted out of the ravine with injuries listed as a leg fracturebroken ribs, and a concussion.

The other woman, 55, sustained lacerations to her head and was transported to an area hospital in an ambulance.

CHP investigators said the man who was the driver of the ATV, did not sustain injuries.

What Caused the Auburn Lake Trail ATV Crash?

Investigators said it is not clear yet how the ATV rolled.
