Hit-and-Run Driver Causes Severe Injury Accident Involving Pedestrian
The injured pedestrian was transported to Roseville Medical Center with a fractured pelvis and ankle, as well as facial and head lacerations. According to surveillance footage, the car that struck the man was a silver Infiniti G-35 manufactured between 2002 and 2006, and minor damage to the front grille was sustained. The CHP traffic crash unit is investigating. Anyone who has information identifying the driver is asked to call (916) 663-3344 or (800) TELL-CHP.
Risks of Pedestrian Accidents
No matter the vehicle’s size, a pedestrian is at risk of a severe injury accident when they have been struck. At higher impact speeds, there is a possibility that a pedestrian may land on the vehicle’s hood or windshield or strike the ground after flying through the air. There are several common types of injuries in pedestrian accidents, including soft tissue lacerations, fractures, and traumatic brain injuries. In addition, the higher the vehicle’s speed, the more likely the pedestrian will die in the collision.
Negligent Motorists Often Cause Pedestrian Accidents
Pedestrians can suffer injuries from various causes in a severe injury accident. Accidents can occur at or near intersections in many different ways, such as the following:
- An accident occurs when a driver runs a red light or doesn’t halt at a stop sign as a pedestrian is inside a crosswalk or steps off the curb.
- Pedestrian accidents occur when drivers cannot stop in time when they are speeding.
- A driver strikes a pedestrian legally crossing the street after making a right-hand turn without checking.
- Illegal U-turn drivers cause accidents involving pedestrians.
- Distracted drivers go through an intersection while pedestrians are legally crossing.
Getting the Compensation You Deserve With the Right Help
