Auto Accident Fatally Injures Winton Woman Near Salida

What Happened?
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) was dispatched to the scene of a rollover accident along Highway 99 northbound near Hammett Road at approximately 2:30 am. Upon arrival, CHP officers discovered a 2004 Ford Explorer SUV on its roof against a guardrail in the center median of the highway. The impact of the collision caused serious damage to the vehicle and prompted authorities to perform extrication efforts to rescue the trapped occupants inside.
Nature of Injuries
Medical assistance was called on scene to render aid. Emergency personnel attended to the occupants of the Ford Explorer who suffered injuries due to the auto accident. A passenger in the Ford, identified as a Winton man, suffered major injuries and was transported via ground ambulance to the Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. The Winton woman driving the Ford, unfortunately, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Identity of Victim
The victim of the fatal auto accident has been identified as 42-year-old Tamika Wilson of Winton.
What Caused the Accident?
The cause of the accident remains unknown due to a pending CHP investigation. A Traffic Collision Report is generally processed within two weeks from the date of an accident. Authorities reported that the Ford Explorer appeared to have approached a curve in the roadway when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a rollover collision. Officials do not suspect alcohol or drugs as factors in the crash.
