Auto Accident Near Woodland Kills One
On Friday, November 13, 2020, one person passed away as the result of an auto accident near Woodland. According to officials from California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident happened in the afternoon in a rural area to the east of the city and only involved one vehicle. The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office is presently withholding the decedent’s name. Furthermore, no other individuals were injured during the crash.
Collision Details
The collision happened at around 1:45 p.m. near the intersection of County Road 124 and Old River road. According to police, a man had been driving a pickup truck on Old River Road not far from the Interstate 5 on-ramp when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle drifted off the asphalt and onto the roadway shoulder. After leaving the road, the vehicle eventually crashed into a nearby ditch.
Response
After receiving a call about the crash, Woodland CHP immediately dispatched police and other emergency responders to the scene. When they arrived on-scene, responders discovered that the pickup driver had sustained severe injuries. Sadly, he succumbed to his trauma at the accident site.
Investigation
Old River Road was shut down near the crash site until at least 4:00 p.m. while authorities conducted accident response and preliminary collision scene investigations. So far, police haven’t confirmed any suspected causes but did indicate that they do not believe driver intoxication was involved.
Even when an accident only involves one vehicle, it can still have more than one cause. Furthermore, many common vehicle accidents happen for reasons that drivers simply can’t control. Non-driver car accident factors include driving on dangerously defective roads or using vehicles that have malfunctioning parts.
Calling an Attorney
When officers cannot interview any of the individuals involved in a crash, they often have a very difficult time conducting a full investigation. Without information from the involved drivers, the police may overlook critical evidence. Unfortunately, this can leave families without the ability to obtain fair compensation for the damages they have suffered.
Because of this, it’s important to have an experienced, skilled attorney privately investigate the crash. An expert lawyer will know how to use their resources to investigate the crash while prioritizing your family’s right to claiming compensation.
Wrongful Death Damages
The damages that families suffer as a result of fatal accidents can be immense. In many cases, families are left without access to important services or may lose an income source that they need to pay their bills. While it’s impossible to replace the presence of someone you love, families can frequently obtain compensation for both economic and personal damages by filing wrongful death claims.
To make sure that you can hold at-fault parties financially responsible, it’s important to speak to an attorney as soon as possible. For more information about how you can get in touch with a trustworthy lawyer, watch this video:
