Auto Accident on Skyway Injures Woman
One person was seriously hurt during an auto accident on Skyway that took place on Thursday, December 26, 2019. According to authorities of the Chico Police Department (CPD), the collision involved one car and happened during the morning east of Chico. According to reports, two dogs were in the vehicle at the time of the accident, and one of them suffered injuries as a result of the crash. Both the injured driver and dog were expected to fully recover.
Crash Information
The accident happened near the Honey Run Road intersection. A vehicle traveling southbound on Skyway reportedly veered right and drove into a ditch between the two sides of the roadway. As it exited the road, the vehicle overturned and landed on its wheels before it came to a stop.
Both officers from CPD and California Highway Patrol (CHP) assisted with responding to the accident. When they arrived, they found the driver of the vehicle inside her vehicle. Medical officials said that she had suffered visible injuries on her hand and complained of pain in other areas. She was taken by ambulance to Enloe medical center to receive treatment and screening for more serious injuries.
Investigation
Traffic was diverted on northbound lanes while police conducted an investigation of the accident scene. As their investigation continues, suspected factors have not been reported. Often, single-vehicle accidents are caused by something that the involved driver doesn’t have control over. This can include things like defective pavement, dangerously designed roads, and faulty vehicle parts like tires, steering systems, brakes, and more.
Rollover Accidents
Data from the NHTSA shows that rollover accidents are very dangerous. These collisions account for a relative percentage of fatal accidents than most other types of crashes and frequently leave people seriously injured. There are a few factors that make rollovers dangerous, but one of the key reasons is that vehicle roofs are liable to crush when the car overturns. This can leave vehicle occupants with roof crush injuries that could have been avoided if the roof was strong enough to withstand the force of the accident.
When vehicles aren’t able to keep occupants safe during accidents, the manufacturer of the vehicle may be liable to pay for the damages that injured parties have suffered. These damages can cover a wide range of losses and often include payments for lost income, medical bills, and more.
