Bella Vista Crash Results in Serious Trauma
On Thursday, February 18, 2021, a car crash outside of Bella Vista caused serious injuries. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers state that the accident happened late at night on a local highway and was a solo-vehicle incident. The number of individuals who sustained trauma has not yet been reported, and the accident is still being investigated.
Crash Information
According to police, the crash happened at around 10:41 p.m. on Highway 299, just east of the small community of Bella Vista outside on the outskirts of Redding. The driver of a vehicle of unreported make and model apparently lost control of their car just outside of Dry Creek Station for reasons that are still unknown. As a result, the car overturned and rolled into a nearby yard, coming to a rest on its left-hand side. Initially, the collision was reported as a two-vehicle accident, but CHP later updated their reports to indicate that it only involved one car.
The owner of the yard called and reported the accident to CHP, and officers were immediately dispatched. According to CHP traffic information, officers reached the scene at 10:48 p.m. Responders at the site determined that at least one individual had suffered serious injuries and called for an ambulance.
Investigation
While CHP investigators continue to look into what could have caused the accident, no likely collision factors have been reported. Frequently, accidents that only involve one car are more complex than they appear and may even involve one or more factors not controlled by the driver. For instance, drivers may not be able to avoid a crash if their vehicle has malfunctioning parts or if the highway is seriously damaged.
In both of the above-described situations, a third-party, such as an auto manufacturing company or a government agency, may share responsibility for the collision. If this is the case, injured parties can often hold these parties financially responsible for their losses.
Rollover Accidents are Dangerous
According to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, accidents that involve an overturned vehicle tend to cause more serious injuries than most other types of collisions. One important reason for this is that many car roofs are unable to protect occupants when put under pressure, possibly caving in and causing “roof crush injuries.”
However, to hold an auto manufacturer financially responsible for defective or poorly built vehicle roofs, your attorney needs to be able to use the wrecked vehicle as evidence in your case. For this reason, crash survivors should always preserve their wrecked car after a rollover crash.
