Benicia Community Events

I’m Ed Smith, a Benicia personal injury lawyer. Residents of Benicia have the good fortune of living in a vibrant city on the Carquinez Strait that is only a short distance away from the major metropolitan area of San Francisco. However, those living in Benicia don’t need to brave the traffic and bridge tolls in order to find fun, engaging events. Benicia community events will be going on all month. Hope to see you in and around beautiful Benicia!

Benicia Farmer’s Market

Benicia’s farmer’s market is going strong in its twenty-fifth year of bringing farm-fresh vegetables and fruits directly from growers to the public. The Farmer’s Market happens every Thursday and begins at 4 p.m. in the downtown area of Benicia on Main Street between D and B Streets. Those who attend will not only find fresh, delicious produce, but a variety of hot food and craft vendors, various non-profit information booths, and live entertainment from a rotating variety of bay area performers.

Memorial Day Celebration

Hosted by the Benicia Historical Society, Benicia’s Memorial day Celebration takes place at the oldest military cemetery in the west. coast (the site first began operating as a military graveyard in 1840). The event takes place on Memorial Day, May 29, and the city will be running Sol Trans buses for free to and from the event from the City Park at the intersection of Military West and First Street.

This event will include; a special dedication to Veterans of the Second World War, some of whom have stated that they will be in attendance, a full Color Guard by American Legion Benicia and VFW, keynote presenter Col. Lawrence T. Brown, a rifle salute by the Military History Preservation Society, and a fly-over by the 60th Air Mobility Wing, courtesy of Travis Air Force Base.

Benicia Open Arts Studios

Arts Benicia will be celebrating its 30th year by holding a weekend open studios on May 6 and 7 during which the public will be given the opportunity to walk through the historic Benicia Arsenal District’s many private art studios. Visitors and residents alike will be able to get a glimpse inside the world of local artists by touring galleries, watching artists and craftspeople at work, speaking with artists about what they do, and buying original pieces directly from the local artists who created them. Many of the open studios will include live entertainment and special demonstrations of all sorts of artistry including glassblowing, metalwork, pottery, painting, and more.
