Benicia Community Events
I’m Ed Smith, a Benicia car accident lawyer. Residents of Benicia live in a city on the edge of the Bay Area that offers close proximity to city life without the congested streets and bustling nights. Benicia locals also enjoy a wide variety of fun and interesting community events that are scheduled year-round. A few of the events taking place over the next month are described below.
Ghost Walk
Starting on August 18, 2017, and taking place every Friday night until October 28, 2017, Benicia Main Street sponsors a walk through historic downtown Benicia guided by local paranormal investigators Deborah Hogarty and James Fitzpatrick. Attendees will be able to follow the investigators as they give an interactive tour of Benicia’s oldest and most haunted areas.
The tours begin at 8:00 p.m. and last until 10:00 p.m. and tickets cost 25 dollars. The tours are open to anyone above the age of 12 although those younger than 18 will need adult accompaniment. Attendees are encouraged to wear good walking shoes and bring flashlights.
Benicia Film Festival
Benicia’s fourth annual film festival will take place during September 1 through September 3, 2017. The weekend festival sponsored by the Benicia Arts and Culture Commision will be showing films of varying genres from local producers and talented directors around the world.
Benicia Film Festival aims to make the event an opportunity for organizations and individuals in Benicia to come together in celebration of independent filmmaking and local art. Tickets are available at beniciafilmfestival.com
Benicia Plein Air Gallery Paintout
For the second year in a row, Benicia Plein Air Gallery is hosting an all-day painting competition. The event will take place on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at 307 First Street in Benicia. Artists who enter the competition will begin painting at 8:00 a.m. and continue until 3:00 p.m. when local artist Randall Sexton will judge the works of art and determine winners for first, second, and third place prizes as well as three honorable mention winners.
After the contest is judged, visitors will have the opportunity to buy the artwork created at the event during a reception where drinks and light appetizers will be available.
Taste of First
Benicia Main Street will be hosting an event on August 22, 2017 where attendees will be able to enjoy their local flavors by sampling the cuisine of restaurants located on First Street.
The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m. Ticket buyers will also receive two glasses of wine as well as a keepsake wineglass to commemorate the event.
