Fatal Accident in Benicia

On Friday, August 4, 2017, a Benicia fatality accident involving multiple motor vehicles left one individual with fatal injuries and may have injured more people. The available details reported by authorities can be read below.

Accident Info

According to information reported to the public by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident occurred on highway Interstate 680 at about 6:05 a.m. The collision reportedly took place on the northbound side of the highway at the connector ramp to the westbound side of highway Interstate 780 near the north end of the Benicia Bridge.

CHP indicated that the accident involved multiple vehicles including a big-rig truck. Further details about how the collision occurred and how many vehicles were involved have not yet been reported to the public.

Injuries

While it is possible that more than one person was injured, all that has been made clear by CHP is that one individual involved in the crash sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. CHP called in the county coroner to attend to the deceased at 6:50 a.m.

Accidents Involving Trucks

Truckers are bound by different standards than normal drivers. They are required to, among other things, rest a certain number of hours per night, keep a detailed log of their activities, and remain vigilant while driving. However, the strict regulations that truckers have to follow don’t necessarily mean that it is easier to prove they have been driving negligently.

Large semi-truck drivers are usually working for a company and those companies almost always have legal teams who are experts in mitigating their drivers’ perceived responsibility for accidents in the eyes of courts and adjusters. If you have been in a collision and think that a truck driver may be at fault for your or a loved one’s injuries, calling a lawyer as soon as possible can help prevent the trucking company’s legal team from obscuring evidence that would otherwise be vital to your case.
