Bicycle Accident Fatally Injures Man

I’m Ed Smith, an Elk Grove bicycle accident attorney. During the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 3, 2017, a man was traveling on his bicycle along Laguna Boulevard. The man was struck by two vehicles which caused him to unfortunately suffer from fatal injuries.

Bicyclist Struck by Two Vehicles

A man was traveling on his bicycle westbound along Laguna Boulevard in the vicinity of Santorini Drive in Elk Grove. At approximately 6:30 am, the man on his bicycle was struck from the rear by a car. The impact from the collision propelled the man over the hood of the car where he fell into the westbound lanes of Laguna Boulevard. An oncoming pick-up truck was unable to avoid the man and crashed into him.

Bicyclist Suffer Major Injuries

Officers indicated that the bicyclist took every safety precaution possible for traveling on his bicycle this day. The bicyclist was wearing a helmet and equipped his bicycle with flashing red lights at the time of the collision. The safety precautions this bicyclist took did not stop the negligent motorist of the first vehicle from crashing into this innocent victim. Sadly, the bicycle accident victim suffered fatal injuries and passed away a short time later after the crash.
