Accident on Brittany Park Drive Causes Injuries to Bicycle Rider

A bicycle rider injury happened in Sacramento on May 24 after the rider was involved in an accident with a motor vehicle. The crash took place around 10:40 a.m. along Brittany Park Drive just south of Caymus Drive, according to the report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). When first responders from the Sacramento Fire Department arrived at the scene, it was discovered that the bicycle rider had suffered a back and head injury

Patient Transported to Hospital With Injuries

The patient was transported to Kaiser South Sacramento Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment. The bicycle rider injury accident is being investigated to determine what happened. No information was released if drug or alcohol consumption was a factor in the accident.

Accidents Involving a Bicycle Rider

Even the most careful bicycle enthusiasts who watch out for traffic can end up being injured in an accident. They can wear bright clothing, obey all the laws and stick to the bike lane, but a negligent motorist can come along and cause serious injuries to the rider. Some of the ways in which negligence can contribute to injuries to a bicycle rider include:

  • A driver who wants to make a right-hand turn goes into the bike lane without looking for a rider using it.
  • The driver ignores the three-foot distance rule in California, which leads to a bicycle rider accident.
  • A driver is distracted and runs into a bicycle rider who is crossing an intersection.
  • The motorist runs a red light or stop sign when a bicycle rider is crossing legally and causes an accident.
  • A speeding driver cannot stop in time to avoid an accident with a bicyclist.
  • The driver is impaired by drinking or drug use, which leads to an accident with a bicyclist.
  • Fatigue prevents a driver from spotting a bicyclist because they are unable to concentrate on the road.

Recovering Compensation Following a Bicycle Accident Injury

A personal injury attorney can help an injured bicyclist recover compensation for all of their medical costs, wages they lost from the inability to work, and for their pain and suffering. Over the years, my law office and legal team have successfully recovered damages for many bicyclists. We do this by investigating the accident to uncover the evidence needed to support our client’s injury claim, such as:

  • The investigators conduct accident reconstruction, which is a way to show how the vehicles were positioned before the accident happened, how they proceeded, and how the collision ended up. This compelling evidence is accepted by insurance companies and in civil court.
  • The accident report by the police is examined to ensure its accuracy because errors can affect a client’s claim for compensation.
  • The witnesses are interviewed to understand what they saw. Some witnesses may have captured the accident on their cell phones, which provides good evidence.
  • Surveillance cameras in the area, such as at local businesses, roads, and traffic lights are checked to see if they captured the accident on video.

After the investigators compile all the evidence, it is given over to our injury lawyers. They use the data to construct a case that is strong.
