Bicyclist Suffers Deadly Injuries During Redding Hit-and-Run
On Tuesday, July 21, 2020, a Redding hit-and-run tragically left a bicyclist with deadly trauma. The decedent was identified by the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office as a 32-year-old Burney resident, Bob Brown. Information from the Redding Police Department (RPD) indicates that the accident occurred in the early morning on the eastern side of the city. Police are reportedly still searching for the missing motorist and vehicle.
Crash Details
The crash occurred at around 6:30 a.m. outside of the Benton Airpark on Airpark Drive. Brown had been riding his bicycle on Airpark Drive when he was reportedly struck by a speeding vehicle near the intersection of Placer Street. Immediately after the collision, the vehicle sped off and left the accident scene.
After they were called about the incident, RPD rushed an emergency response team out to the site. When responders arrived, they discovered Brown had been severely injured. Responders had Brown placed in an ambulance and driven to a hospital for emergency medical procedures. However, Brown tragically passed away while in hospital custody.

Recovering Compensation After a Hit-and-Run
Hit-and-run accidents are very stressful. Families often worry that they will not be able to obtain compensation for their losses if the involved driver can’t be found. While police often are able to locate missing drivers, families may be able to obtain the compensation they need even if the motorist is never found. This can be accomplished by utilizing a part of insurance policies called “uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage.”
While it is possible to obtain wrongful death payments through this coverage, not all policies are the same. Furthermore, this coverage is optional in the state of California, so not all individuals are eligible. On top of these issues, insurance companies may be unwilling to pay the full amount that you deserve and may make a low-ball offer.
To ensure that you are able to receive the payments you deserve from insurers, it’s vital to reach out to a wrongful death lawyer right away. Your attorney can investigate the accident and negotiate with your insurer to help your family obtain financial stability during a difficult time.
