A major rig injury crash caused significant disruption on westbound I-80 on September 22. Cal Fire units were also called to the scene due to the severity of the crash, which resulted in major injuries. The entire freeway was initially shut down, prompting a SigAlert. Authorities indicated no immediate estimate of when the road might be cleared.

Investigation Underway to Determine Accident Cause

Motorists were advised to find alternate routes, with detours directed through Rollins Lake and large trucks rerouted via SR 20. By 4:34 p.m., authorities had opened one lane to ease traffic flow. The CHP traffic unit is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.

Big Rig Liability in an Injury Accident

If a semi causes an accident, the trucker may be liable for injuries. However, more than the trucker may be liable also. For example, a company may be liable for a big rig injury crash if a company employs the driver. In addition, if packing the cargo was faulty and slid to one side, causing a rollover or jackknife collision, they may be liable.

It doesn’t stop there. The manufacturer may be held responsible if the big rig injury crash was caused by faulty brakes. So may the government entity in charge of the roadway if potholes, missing signage or other problems contributed to the collision. A truck accident lawyer can investigate a collision to determine all sources of liability and hold them responsible.

Secure the Right Compensation With a Personal Injury Lawyer

When a commercial vehicle is involved in an accident, pinpointing liability can be complex. Here is where a truck accident lawyer plays a crucial role. By meticulously examining your big rig injury crash, they can identify the liable parties and gather essential evidence to support your claim.

The attorney will compile your medical expenses and assess any potential damages you might be owed. They can represent you in negotiations with the at-fault party’s insurance company to ensure you receive the compensation you deserve. Importantly, if your case isn’t successful, you are not required to pay any fees.
