Three People Injured in Brentwood Crash
A severe automobile crash occurred on the morning of Wednesday, October 26, 2016. The accident involved two vehicles that injured both drivers and sent one of the passengers to the hospital via life flight.
What Happened?
The California Highway Patrol received a call about a crash that had occurred at approximately 7:00 am on Highway 4 in the vicinity of Marsh Creek Road and Balfour Road in Brentwood. A motorist was driving in their Nissan Altima with an occupant in their passenger seat turning towards the Highway 4 Bypass when they were struck by a vehicle running a red light. The vehicle was identified as a Ford Explorer which was approaching from the eastbound direction of Balfour Road. Reports indicated that witnesses observed the Explorer failing to stop at the red traffic signal light along Balfour Road and crashed into the passenger side of the Nissan. Firefighters from the East Contra Costa Fire Department responded to the scene of the crash at 7:03 am to assist the injured occupants of both vehicles. The roadway was shut down for several hours to allow authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure the safety of other motorists on the roadway. Officers believe that alcohol did not play a role in the crash.
Were There Injuries?
The impact of the T-Bone collision caused the passenger of the Nissan Altima to sustain life-threatening injuries. The passenger had to be flown in a helicopter to the John Muir Trauma Center in Walnut Creek. The drivers of both vehicles sustained minor injuries and were also transported to the John Muir Medical Center. Authorities from the Brentwood Police Department have not released additional information about the accident at this time.
