Brentwood Man Fatally Injured in Semi Truck Crash
On Saturday, March 7, 2020, a one-person sadly passed away after an accident on Highway Interstate 680. The decedent has been identified by officials of the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office as Anthony Wilson, a 64-year-old Brentwood man. According to details reported by California Highway Patrol (CHP), Wilson had been driving a big-rig at the time of the accident. Additionally, the crash is still under CHP investigation.
Collision Details
CHP has reported that the accident happened in the morning on Interstate 680 in the city of Danville. Wilson was driving south on the highway when an accident occurred in front of his vehicle just north of the Stone Valley Road exit. Wilson reportedly veered to the left in order to avoid the collision but crashed into the concrete median of the highway as a result. Officials stated that the impact with the guard rail caused Wilson to be ejected through a vehicle window.
Responders arriving at the collision scene found Wilson had received critical injuries. Sadly, he was pronounced deceased on-site. According to medical officials, no other parties involved in the accident were left with significant injuries.
Trucking Accidents
Big-rigs are some of the largest vehicles on the road and typically weigh tens of thousands of pounds. Because of their weight and size, these vehicles can be very difficult to maneuver and take a long time to come to a complete stop. The companies that own and operate these trucks are aware of the risks of driving such a large vehicle and are almost always prepared to defend themselves in the event of an accident. In most cases, the company will send out a private legal response team to the accident site so that they can conduct their own witness interviews and collect evidence.
In order to make sure that trucking companies don’t disclaim responsibility for the damages your family has suffered, it’s very important to call a local attorney as soon as possible. Having a lawyer early on in a wrongful death case often makes a critical difference and can stop negligent parties from avoiding financial liability.
Wrongful Death Damages
The love and presence of a friend or family member can never be replaced, and coping with your grief takes time. However, families can claim a wide variety of damages through wrongful death claims, and these payments can help them have financial security during a very hard period of their lives. Every case of wrongful death is different, and it’s important to have expert advice before taking any action. For this reason, it’s always best to get personal advice from an attorney.
