Elderly Man Killed After Crashing into Straw Hat Pizza
A solo vehicle accident took place in the city of Brentwood on the afternoon of Friday, December 16, 2016. Sadly, the motorist of the vehicle was transported to the hospital where he later passed away due to a heart complication.
What Happened?
An elderly man, a 70-year-old resident of Discovery Bay, was traveling alone in his vehicle in the Brentwood area when he suffered a medical emergency at about 2:00 pm. This caused the elderly man to lose control of his vehicle and crash into the corner of the Straw Hat Pizza restaurant along Lone Tree Way. The impact from the SUV caused exterior damage to the restaurant but thankfully did not enter the building to injure any pedestrians.
Elderly Man Suffers Serious Injuries
Officers from the Brentwood Police Department were immediately dispatched to the scene of the crash. Where they found the elderly man unresponsive in the driver seat of his vehicle. Medical aid was immediately given to the man from medical personnel who arrived on the scene. The man was then transported to a local hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
Elderly Man Passes Away
According to Walter O’Grodnick from the Brentwood Police Department, the man was later pronounced deceased the following afternoon. However, the man did not pass away as a result of the automobile accident but instead suffered from a heart complication.
