Two Injured in Bus Accident Near Stockton
An accident involving three vehicles and a San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) bus occurred in north Stockton during the morning of Tuesday, January 30, 2018. The collision, unfortunately, caused two parties to suffer injuries.
We extend our best wishes for a full recovery for the two parties that suffered injuries in this frightening accident.
What Happened?
Officers from the Stockton Police Department were called to the scene of an accident involving an RTD bus and three other vehicles just before 8:30 am. Upon arrival, police located the RTD bus along the front yard of a home near the intersection. Investigators reported that one car hydroplaned at the intersection, causing the vehicle to lose control and collide with the RTD bus. The impact of the collision propelled the bus into two other cars. The bus then struck a nearby home, which caused serious property damage. Thankfully, no one was inside the home at the time of the crash.
Nature of Injuries
Investigators verified that there were no passengers aboard the RTD bus at the time of the accident. The driver of the RTD bus escaped injuries in the collision. However, two other parties were transported to a hospital with minor injuries. An update on their conditions has not yet been released by officials.

Bus Accidents
Bus accidents do not occur as often as other types of traffic collisions. However, these accidents can happen at any moment on California roadways. The most common causes of bus accidents include the following:
- Drunk Driving
- Inclement weather
- Distracted Driving
- Driver Fatigue
- Poor Vehicle Maintenance
- Speeding
Bus drivers are obligated to exercise due care while transporting passengers. If a bus driver fails to do so, the resulting injuries can be traumatic or even fatal. If you or a loved one has been injured in a bus accident caused by a negligent party or entity, it is important to discuss the details of your case with a seasoned Stockton personal injury lawyer. An attorney with years of experience can further investigate and shed light on those who are at fault. A claim can be brought against the negligent parties for all incurred losses. If you are involved in an accident with a government entity bus, you have only six months or 180 days to bring a claim for damages. After that, there are several other hurdles to overcome. It is best to contact a personal injury lawyer right away!
