Multiple Injuries in Bus Accident
A vehicle crashed into a bus carrying 17 occupants on the morning of Tuesday, December 27, 2016. The bus accident, which took place down the street from Disneyland in Anaheim, injured 14 people on board the bus and resulted in the death of the man behind the wheel of the vehicle.
What Happened?
The motorist of a Toyota Avalon was traveling southbound along Harbor Boulevard in Anaheim at about 11:15 am. For unknown reasons the driver abruptly veered over into the northbound lanes of Harbor Boulevard. The bus was pulling away from the curb when the Toyota headed toward the bus and the two vehicles collided head-on.
Were They Okay?
The Toyota driver was its only occupant, however there were 17 people on the bus at the time of the accident. Of the 17 occupants on the bus, 14 were taken to the hospital and were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Toyota, identified as a 60-year-old man, was transported to the hospital with critical injuries. Unfortunately, the man later passed away.
What Caused the Accident?
At this time it is still too soon to determine the exact cause of the bus accident. Traffic collision reports generally take up to 2 weeks to be fully processed. However, investigators suspect that the driver of the Toyota Avalon was suffering from a medical emergency moments before the crash.
