Resurfacing Highway Project Completed
One large section of highway in San Joaquin County just received a facelift. The California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) recently finished its large-scale pavement resurfacing project along Highway 99. The improvement location is between the San Joaquin-Sacramento county line and Hammer Lane.
The project cost approximately $37 million. It repaved southbound and northbound lanes as well as the on-and off-ramps. The California Department of Transportation also provided for the installation of shoulder rumble strips and upgraded guard rails.
What Are Rumble Strips?
Rumble strips are used along highway shoulders and sometimes the center of the highway mainly to reduce run-off-road or center divide crossing collisions. They alert sleepy or distracted motorists that they are leaving the roadway or crossing over the center divider.
By the end of summer, another large section of Highway 99 should be completed offering similar types of highway improvements.
When Will The South Stockton Widening Project Be Completed?
Caltrans is hoping to finish its South Stockton Widening project, which will widen to six lanes from four lanes a section of roadway between Highway 4 and Arch Road.
Lane closures due to continued construction continue along Interstate 5.
