Car Accident in Brentwood Injures Five
I’m Ed Smith, a Brentwood Personal Injury Lawyer. During the late evening of Friday, October 27, 2017, a two vehicle wreck sent a total of five people to a hospital, after one of the drivers ran a red light. Below, you can find an in-depth report of the incident.
How Did it Happen?
At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Friday, October 27th, a car crash sent one adult as well as four children to nearby hospitals. The collision was caused by one vehicle that failed to stop at a red light and attempted to speed through it.
Sergeant Aguiar of Brentwood’s Police Department spoke to various media channels regarding the Brentwood car accident. After the car wreck had been called in to the police station, officers arrived at the Balfour Road and Griffith Lane intersection where the accident occurred. According to St. Aguiar, a female driving a silver Honda Odyssey was traveling west along Balfour Road at the time she ran a red light and collided into a white Toyota Venza, which was driving east on Balfour before turning left on Griffith Lane.
Injuries Sustained by Those Involved
The Honda Odyssey driver had a total of five people including herself in the car at the time of the accident, and the other four passengers were all minors. They all had to be transferred to the Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch. The injuries from the accident were wide-ranging and diverse, ranging from scrapes and scratches to potential broken bones. Two other people involved in the collision – including the Toyota owner – did not need to be hospitalized and were released at the scene.
Aside from Brentwood police officers, a fire engine from the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District (ECCFPD) and three ambulances responded to the crash site.
If I Run a Red Light, What Happens Next?
Whether intentional or not, running a red light has its consequences. After you run a red light, you will receive a citation write-up via mail. The citation will note what legal violations you have made, and it will most likely include a referral to a website. On that website, you can see for yourself the proof of your violation if it was caught on still video pictures. This evidence is meant to clarify where and how your driving was in violation of the traffic laws.
