Accident Details
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident occurred shortly after 5:00 in the afternoon. A 20-year-old Patterson woman was driving her Chevrolet Trailblazer with one other passenger westbound along Howard Road near Henderson Road. At the same time, a Toyota Corolla carrying three occupants was traveling eastbound along Howard Road. For unknown reasons, the Chevrolet veered off the road and went into the gravel and dirt shoulder. The Chevrolet driver attempted to correct the vehicle by turning to the left to return to the road but entered the eastbound lane in the direct path of the Toyota. Both drivers were unable to react in time and collided head-on. The impact of the collision caused both vehicles to come to rest along the eastbound lane of Howard Road along the Delta-Mendota Canal Bridge.

Medical personnel was called to the scene to render aid to the parties injured in the accident. The Chevrolet driver and her passenger, a 21-year-old Patterson man, were both taken to the Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for treatment of major injuries. One passenger of the Toyota was also transported to a hospital in Modesto where he was listed in critical condition. The two other people involved in the collision, identified as the driver and passenger of the Toyota, were declared deceased at the scene.

Legal Assistance Following a Collision Fatality
Suffering the loss of a loved one is one of the most challenging experiences to undergo in life. When a loved one loses his or her life in an accident caused by a negligent driver, an experienced wrongful death attorney may be able to assist. An injury attorney can investigate further into the crash to properly determine liability and present a strong case for fair compensation for surviving family members. While this cannot bring a loved one back, it can help a family move forward without the financial hardships they may encounter otherwise.
