Car Crash Causes Citrus Heights Power Outage
Car Crash Causes Citrus Heights Power Outage
I’m Ed Smith, a Citrus Heights car accident attorney. Approximately 17,000 SMUD customers were without electricity for over an hour in Citrus Heights on the evening of Wednesday, April 13, 2016.
What Happened?
SMUD officials indicated the power outage was caused by a automobile crashing into one of their power poles in the vicinity of PFE and Cook Riolo roads. The power went down at around 4:55 p.m. The power was restored to most residents and businesses in the affected area by about 6:00 p.m.
What About the Remaining Residents?
By 7:00 p.m., 1,500 more customers had their electricity turned back on.
But about 99 customers had to go through the night without power being restored. Those folks were to have their power restored by 5:00 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016.
What Caused the Car Crash?
An investigation will be performed to determine if speed, drugs and/or alcohol, distracted driving or some other factor caused this collision. No other information about the condition of the driver or the status of the power outage was released.
