Car Crashes into Auburn Hospital
I’m Ed Smith, an Auburn Personal Injury Attorney. A pickup truck did not brake in time behind a rental vehicle after exiting the Interstate 80 freeway. This resulted in a rear-end crash that sent the rental vehicle into a local hospital in Auburn. Thankfully, there were no fatalities in this crash.
What Happened?
The occupants of a rental vehicle were taking the Interstate 80 exit for Auburn Boulevard when they heard the screeching sounds of a vehicle’s tires from behind them. The rental car was then struck from the rear by a pickup truck. The motorist of the rental car lost control of the vehicle and drove into the front glass doors of the Heritage Oaks Mental Hospital along Auburn Boulevard. A security guard that was working for the hospital at the time of the crash stated that he was sitting in the lobby when he observed the lights of a vehicle approaching him. The security guard immediately got up and moved out of the direction of the oncoming vehicle with not a moment to lose. The rental car came to a halt after driving into the hospital and the truck that precipitated the crash was found flipped on its side up against a tree.
What Caused The Accident?
It is still too soon to know for sure. Authorities from the Auburn Police Department are investigating. They will be checking to see whether drugs or alcohol contributed to this crash. A police escort transported the motorist of the truck to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. No one was seriously injured due to the accident.
