Car Hits and Kills Pedestrian in Pittsburg

I’m Ed Smith, a Pittsburg Wrongful Death Lawyer. A pedestrian was hit by a car in Pittsburg during the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 13th, 2017. The pedestrian was officially declared dead at the scene of the accident. The identity of the victim has yet to be released to the public.

What Happened?

The Pittsburg Police Department responded to a call regarding the collision at roughly 5:50 a.m. The accident was reported on southbound Railroad Avenue by Marks Boulevard, which is a major commute road in the East Bay region. Officers came out to the scene of the incident and discovered the pedestrian in the roadway, suffering from severe injuries. Sadly, the pedestrian died at the scene. The car driver who struck the pedestrian is being cooperative with the ongoing investigation. Southbound Railroad Avenue was to be closed down for a few hours in order for police to continue their investigation of the incident.

Because the investigation is still in it’s early stage, there are not many details yet available. Police were unable to provide reporters with personal information about the victim, such as an age, gender, or name. The pedestrian’s identity will be made known to the public shortly after their family is notified.

Pedestrian Duties

All pedestrians are obligated to cross an intersection or roadway safely. All drivers are also obligated to let pedestrians have the right-of-way at marked crosswalks and/or controlled intersections. Pedestrians are also expected to appropriately use crosswalks if they are available. Drivers who approach a pedestrian are expected to slow down and take other measures to secure the safety of the pedestrian.

Who is at Fault in a Pedestrian Accident

The party who is responsible for maintaining the road, sidewalk, or parking lot of which the incident occured
