Carmichael Bus Accident Involved in Hit and Run Collision

A Carmichael bus accident that caused an injury happened on the afternoon of February 20 when two speeding vehicles were involved in a hit-and-run collision. The accident happened shortly before 5:00 in the afternoon at Marconi Avenue and Root Avenue. According to a report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), one of the vehicles that struck the bus was identified as a silver 2-door Mercedes. Both vehicles left the scene of the accident. The number two lane westbound on Marconi was blocked by the bus following the accident. One individual who was riding on the bus was transported to UC Davis Medical Center for evaluation after complaining of pain to their neck and right side. The identity of that person or the extent of their injuries has not been released.

Bus Accidents

Riding on a bus is generally a safe way for riders to reach their destinations. However, even though the driver and its parent company owe a duty of care to transport passengers safely, it can result in a Carmichael bus accident. If a bus driver or the company that employs that person is found to be negligent, the rider can claim fair compensation for their injuries. Some of the ways how a bus driver or company may be negligent include:

  • Drunk or drugged driving
  • Using a cell phone to text or talk while driving
  • Inexperience
  • Previous citations
  • Driver fatigue
  • Poor bus maintenance
  • Speeding or other reckless driving

Trauma in a Bus Accident

Because many buses lack seat belts, a passenger may be tossed around or even ejected by a collision. In far too many cases, buses involved in a collision experience a rollover or catch on fire, which can compound the trauma of the bus accident. Although any type of injury is possible in a Carmichael bus accident, following are some of the most common types that are suffered:

Getting Help for an Accident Injury

A personal injury lawyer may assist by examining evidence in the case, including police reports and witness accounts. When a hit-and-run driver is involved, the lawyer can conduct their own investigation to locate the suspect. Bus accidents are complex, so an experienced lawyer can handle an investigation to see whether any actions by the driver or company contributed to the crash.

No one should have to bear the financial brunt of an accident caused by another person. A lawyer with the financial means to locate a hit-and-run driver and investigate an accident is vital to collecting the financial compensation an injured person requires and deserves. In this way, they can concentrate on healing from their injuries without the compounded fear of facing high medical bills, lost time from work and other expenses.
