Carmichael Crash Blocks Traffic
I’m Ed Smith, a Carmichael Car Accident Lawyer. A crash involving a California Highway Patrol (CHP) cruiser and a pickup truck in Carmichael sent one person to the hospital and blocked traffic on Wednesday, September 20th.
What Happened?
Few details about the crash have been released as the CHP is still working to complete its investigation. While its cause remains unknown, the officer-involved crash sent the driver of a white Chevy pickup truck to a hospital and left the patrolman with minor injuries. Crews worked to clear the roadway until 5:30 p.m., resulting in a traffic jam Wednesday with vehicles from the Sheriffs office, local Police, and Highway patrol directing traffic.
Dangerous Intersections
There are nearly 2.5 million accidents at intersections in the US every year. In light of this frightening statistic, we have compiled a list of Dangerous Intersections in the Sacramento County for our readers. Some of the most dangerous intersections in the area include:
- Los Robles Boulevard at Marysville
- Fruitrudge Road at 28th Street
- Jessie Avenue at Norwood Avenue
- Arena Blvd. at Truxel Road
As the old saying goes: always look before you cross the road.
Claims Against Government Entities
While the circumstances surrounding Wednesday’s crash remain under investigation, accidents involving government vehicles present a unique set of challenges to people injured as a result. In some cases, operators of government vehicles are protected under what is known as immunity from liability. Because they are acting in the public welfare and responding to an emergency, operators of government vehicles and their affiliated agencies are given a fair amount of latitude in the duty of care they are expected to exercise. Once their vehicle’s siren and flashing red lights are activated, conduct is measured by the standard that a reasonable person under similar circumstances might exercise. Obviously, the driver of an emergency vehicle should not be causing accidents while responding to them.
Suing the government for causing an accident requires an injury lawyer with extensive knowledge of the Federal Tort Claims Act as well as the California Tort Claims Act. Only experienced injury lawyers with expertise in claims against government entities are equipped to protect your rights and ensure that you receive fair compensation for your losses.
