Further Details of the Carmichael Intersection Collision
Two vehicles were blocking the intersection and had to be moved out of the way. However, a tow truck was called to expedite clearing the intersection because one of the vehicles had a broken front axle. The condition of the injured person/persons has not been reported as well as what hospital they were taken to for further treatment and evaluation. The car accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to determine fault and how it occurred.
Intersection Accidents
Forty percent of all traffic accidents happen in intersections. Most of them are because of driver negligence or error. They commonly occur due to speeding, drunk driving, ignoring another driver’s right of way or running a stop sign or red light. Running a red light is a particular danger at intersections, which causes about 165,000 traffic accidents nationwide each year as well as between 700 and 800 fatalities.
Carmichael Intersection Collision Causes
Intersection collisions in Carmichael may happen for the following reasons:
- Driver error
- Reckless driving
- Distracted driving
- Making an improper turn
- Failure to yield
- Tailgating
- Failure to look for pedestrians, motorcyclists and bicycle riders
- Badly designed intersection
- Not adjusting speed in inclement weather conditions
- Road conditions
- Missing or blocked signage, potholes, overhanging branches and other dangers
Problems With Intersections and Road Conditions
Poorly cared for roads, signage and traffic lights can cause a Carmichael intersection collision. Any type of obstacles such as road debris or potholes can impede traffic flow and result in an accident. Government entities such as the county or state are responsible for the maintenance of roadways to keep them in good condition for users. If an accident injury occurs because of a lack of maintenance, the injured person may be eligible to file a claim against that agency for compensation. Since the filing time against a government entity is much shorter than other personal injuries, it is important to contact a lawyer experienced in these types of claims.
