Chico Collision Sends One to Hospital

One person was reportedly sent to the hospital after a Chico collision that took place on Sunday, January 12, 2020. California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officers said that the crash occurred at around 11:55 a.m. on Highway 99 in the area of Neal Road. Minimal details about the events leading up to the crash were reported. However, police did say that the collision involved a gray SUV as well as a Toyota Corolla. According to police, the Toyota was seriously damaged as a result of the crash.

The injured individual was reportedly transported via ambulance to the Enloe Medical Center to receive emergency care. Updates on the injured party’s condition haven’t been reported so far. Additionally, CHP says that they are conducting an ongoing investigation into possible causes of the crash.

Another Recent Chico Collision

This accident happened just a week after another serious Chico collision. The earlier crash happened on Sunday, January 5, 2020, and also took place on Highway 99. CHP reports indicated that the crash involved a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle and also left one person with injuries requiring hospital care.

Chico Accident Data

Data from traffic authorities published by UC Berkeley shows that there were thousands of injury-causing crashes in Chico during the last decade. Between 2008 and 2019, there were a total of 3,096 traumatic crashes within city limits. Just under one-third of these happened on a state highway while the rest took place on municipal roads.

These wrecks caused 3,930 injuries and cost another 42 people their lives. Out of the 3,096 crashes, 285 involved a pedestrian, 551 involved a bicycle, and 151 involved a motorcyclist. Common causal factors included right-of-way violations, speeding, improper turning, DUI, and ignoring traffic signs.

Dealing With Injuries

Being hurt in a crash often puts people in a stressful situation. Common accident trauma like spinal cord damage, brain injuries, and bone fractures are all likely to seriously affect your life. Not only are these injuries painful, but recovering from an injury can take a long time. During this time, it can be difficult to get around or even continue working. In turn, this can make it very hard to afford the necessary medical procedures you need to regain your health.

These concerns are major, but collision survivors can often get the help they need by working with a Chico personal injury lawyer to file a claim against negligent parties and/or insurance companies. By doing so, people facing expensive, difficult recoveries can often obtain the full amount of compensation they need to cover their costs. Payments available in injury claims vary depending on your circumstances, and you should always seek advice from an experienced lawyer.
