Chico Motorcycle Accident Hospitalizes Man

I’m Ed Smith, a Chico personal injury lawyer. A recent collision in Chico, unfortunately, left one man with major injuries. Responding officers stated that the accident involved a passenger vehicle and a motorcyclist near Depot Park and Chico State University. Officials reported that the rider of the motorcycle was transported to a hospital for emergency treatment following the crash. Updates on the condition of the injured man have not yet been released publicly.

Collision Details

Authorities indicated that the accident transpired just before 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of West 3rd and Orange Streets. Photographs taken at the scene suggested that a large red motorcycle allegedly struck a black four-door sedan between the driver’s side door and front tire, leaving a large dent behind. The front-end of the motorcycle was severely damaged and wreckage was scattered throughout the roadway.

Response and Injuries

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the accident site after receiving reports of an injured motorcyclist. When they arrived, responders found the rider on the roadway with serious injuries and had the man rushed to a local trauma center. No other parties were reported to have been injured during the crash.

Investigation

Officers with the Chico Police Department (CPD) closed off the roadway around the crash site as they conducted an investigation. No suspected factors have been released to the public by investigators. However, factors that may have been part of the collision include distracted driving, faulty vehicle parts, hazards in the road, driving under the influence, driving at unsafe speeds, and more.

Chico Motorcycle Accident Locations

While accidents can happen anywhere, some areas tend to see more crashes than others. This can be caused by many different factors including poor roadway design, heavy traffic, and low light conditions. However, by knowing these locations, drivers can exercise additional caution and reduce their chance of being involved in a crash. These locations in Chico have had a high rate of traumatic motorcycle accidents over the last decade:

  • Walnut Street at Nord Avenue and West 1st Street
  • 9th Street between Ivy Street and Cypress Street
  • The Skyway and Golden State Highway Junction
  • Park Avenue from Main Street to Highway 99
  • Esplanade near West East Avenue
  • 5th Street near Highway 99
