Wonder Street and Hanson Avenue Site of Single-Vehicle Rollover Crash

A rollover crash occurred in Citrus Heights on August 1, when the driver lost control of their vehicle. The accident occurred around 3:42 in the morning at Wonder Street and Hanson Avenue. When officers with the Citrus Heights Police arrived at the scene, they discovered that a vehicle had exited the road, crashed into bushes, and rolled over on its side.

Occupants of Vehicle Uninjured in Rollover Crash

Three occupants in the car managed to exit the vehicle without assistance following the rollover crash, and no injuries were reported. Police report that neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be a factor in the vehicle rollover. It is being investigated to determine the cause.

Rollover Crash

Many rollover accidents are caused by speeding, losing control of the vehicle, or other factors. However, not all rollovers are because the driver was negligent. Because a rollover crash often causes traumatic injuries and fatalities, it is important to determine whether outside influences were the reason the accident occurred.

Certain Vehicles More Subject to Rollover and Roof Crush

SUVs, light trucks, and vans are more likely to experience a rollover because they are top-heavy. One of the major injury-causing factors with rollover is the possibility of roof crush. This occurs when the infrastructure of the vehicles is unable to support its weight in a rollover. In this situation, the occupants of the vehicle are caught between the roof and ground and frequently suffer catastrophic injuries.

Since the manufacturer is obligated to add support equal to 2.5 times the weight of the vehicle, failing to do this is negligence. It is important to preserve the vehicle after a rollover accident so investigators can examine it for structural support and other defects.

Outside Influences in a Rollover Accident

If an outside influence was the reason for the accident, the injured party or grieving family has the option of filing a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit. Some outside factors that could cause the crash include:

  • A hit-and-run driver can cause a rollover crash. If the accident happened during hours when little traffic is on the roadway, an investigation is needed to uncover evidence that a fleeing driver was the cause.
  • A mechanical issue with the vehicle can result in a rollover. Defective brakes, steering, or accelerator can all cause a vehicle to experience an accident. When defects in a motor vehicle are the cause, the manufacturer, designer, and others can be held responsible through a product liability claim. In this type of claim, negligence does not have to be proven, only that the product was used as intended without modification.
  • Problems with medication can result in a rollover. If a patient is given the wrong medicine or dosage, it can result in sleepiness that can lead to a crash. In addition, warnings are required when medications can cause sleepiness.
  • Road defects such as potholes, old or damaged guardrails, curves that are too sharp, and others can cause a rollover crash.

Investigating a Single-Vehicle Rollover Crash

Not all single-vehicle rollovers are caused by driver negligence. The experienced investigators with my law firm can determine the true cause to uphold your compensation claim. They begin by checking the report by the police for mistakes and talking to any witnesses.

Photos are taken and accident reconstruction is performed. The investigators also check for real-time video footage from road and traffic surveillance cameras in the area. In some cases, a witness may have captured the rollover crash on their cell phone.

The investigators also look for government negligence that may have contributed to the crash. If this is discovered, the government entity responsible for maintenance may be held liable. Our experienced lawyers use the evidence to construct a strong case to benefit our clients.
