Negligent Motorists and Sonora County Motorcycle Accidents
Negligence on the part of motorists is a common factor in a Cold Spring accident involving a motorcyclist. Many drivers primarily focus on spotting other cars and trucks, often overlooking motorcyclists, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Key causes of motorcycle accidents involving motorists include:
- Left turns: The leading cause of motorcycle accidents in North Sacramento is motorists turning left in front of riders. Frequently, drivers claim they didn’t see the approaching motorcyclist. In some instances, drivers see the motorcyclist but mistakenly believe they can turn before the rider arrives. Accurately judging a motorcycle’s speed and distance is challenging.
- Head-on collisions: These accidents occur when drivers cross double-yellow lines on two-lane roads or attempt to pass on a hill, failing to notice oncoming motorcyclists.
- Stopping short or rear-end collisions: Sudden stops or speeding drivers unable to halt in time often result in serious injuries for motorcyclists, who can be thrown from their bikes.
