Thousand Oaks Color Vibe 5K Run at the Oaks Mall
As local residents know, June 24 is the day for the Color Vibe 5K run at The Oaks Mall. This yearly event is fun for all and raises money for charity. Five hundred runners are expected to participate in the event and will be released from their positions at the starting line about every four to six minutes.
I would like to extend my congratulations to the participants for this excellent community event and I hope that they raise a lot of money for charity.
What Makes This Run Different
Color stations will be located throughout the race course to spray runners with colors throughout the course. In addition, while walking is okay as long as runners don’t impede others, dancing down the course is forbidden because it could potentially cause an accident.
Recommendations on What to Wear
By the time runners reach the finish line, they will be rainbow colored. Even though the color washes out of clothes, it might not in all cases. It is recommended that participants wear clothing that they don’t mind getting stained. For those with light-colored hair, using a light oil or conditioner in the hair before the race can help them remove the color later. However, in some persons with blonde or bleached hair, it may take a few shampoos to remove all the color. In addition, don’t forget to bring a trash bag or towel to keep the color from getting on your car as you drive home from the event.
Running the Course
The course is scheduled to run around the perimeter of the mall area parking lot, and color throws will be held at the finish line party. Late check-in will be held from 6:00-7:30 a.m. and a Zumba warm-up are scheduled for 7:15 a.m. Start time for the race is from 8:00-8:15 a.m. and the dance party at the finish line is from 8:30-10:00 a.m. Participants are requested to obey Road Closed areas and park in areas that are designated for the run. Money collected from the run will go to the Girls and Boys Club of Greater Conejo Valley.
Incidence of Car Accidents in Parking Lots
Accidents between motor vehicles are common in parking lots. Fortunately, because motorists are usually driving at lower speeds, the damage is not as serious as a roadway crash. However, pedestrians remain at risk even when a motor vehicle is moving slowly. A knowledgeable injury lawyer can help recover fair compensation when a pedestrian or occupant of a motor vehicle has been injured by negligence.
