What Happened?
A minivan driver traveling east along Telephone Road near the Santa Paula Freeway lost control of the vehicle close to Ramelli Avenue and crossed into the opposing lanes. This resulted in the minivan hitting a pole and overturning onto its side, according to authorities, who were notified of the crash at about 3:21 in the afternoon. The battalion chief of the fire department in Ventura said that another vehicle was involved in the accident, although details are sketchy at the time of this reporting.
Injuries From the Accident
The driver of the minivan was initially thought to be suffering injuries that were serious and was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center. The driver’s injuries were later deemed to be of a minor nature. Two additional individuals were treated for minor injuries at the accident site.
Reporting an Accident in California
An accident must be reported to the California Department of Motor Vehicles within a 10-day period if the damage caused by the crash resulted in injury, even minor injury, the crash caused over $1,000 in damage or a fatality was involved. It is irrelevant whether the individual involved in the crash was to blame for it or whether it happened on private property.
Injuries Following a Motor Vehicle Accident
Because accidents can cause a release of endorphins or adrenaline due to the shock of the impact in a crash, injury symptoms may not appear right away. That is why it is a good idea for anyone involved in an accident to see a physician or head to the emergency room to get checked out. That way, the accident victim has a record of having sought treatment and can be assured that everything is alright. A physician can also warn an accident victim about what types of delayed symptoms to look for that might signal danger.
Symptoms of Concussion
A concussion is a type of injury that might not appear right away following an accident. If affected by any of the following symptoms, it is wise to see your physician.
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Blurry vision
- Problems concentrating
- Cloudy vision or memory problems
- Nausea
- Changes in energy level or sleep patterns
Soft Tissue Injuries
Soft tissue injuries refer to injuries of the muscles, tendons or ligaments. They are more difficult to detect because they do not appear on X-rays. However, such injuries can result in pain and restrict the individual’s ability to do tasks of daily living.
