Major Injury Occurs on Yeager Court in Corning Motorcycle Accident

A Corning motorcycle accident with a vehicle on July 16 caused a major injury to the rider after colliding with a motor vehicle. The collision occurred around 5:12 p.m. on Yeager Court between South Avenue and Million Road. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the motorcyclist had collided with a Ford pickup.

Fault Being Determined in Corning Motorcycle Accident

Emergency responders with the Tehama County Fire Department arrived at the scene and transported the injured rider to the hospital for medical care. The CHP traffic collision unit’s job is to determine how the collision occurred and assign the fault.

Motorcycle Injury Accidents Involving Vehicles

Negligent drivers can significantly increase the risk of a significant injury in a motorcycle collision. The main causes that contribute to these accidents include:

  • Driving while impaired: Alcohol and drugs affect reaction time and judgment, which are important for safe driving.
  • Speeding: Excessive speeds reduce a driver’s ability to react in time to avoid a motorcycle, especially in sudden traffic changes.
  • Distracted driving: Activities like texting, eating, or adjusting the radio distract drivers from the road, making it difficult to notice motorcyclists.
  • Failure to check blind spots: Motorcycles are smaller and can easily be hidden in a car’s blind spots, leading to collisions during lane changes or turns.
  • Ignoring traffic signals: Running red lights or failing to yield the right of way can result in high-impact crashes involving motorcycles.
  • Tailgating: Tailgaters do not have enough space to stop in an emergency, increasing the likelihood of rear-end collisions with motorcycles.

Compensation Recovery With the Help of an Injury Lawyer

A major injury motorcycle accident may have long-lasting effects on your life. When you suffer injuries in an accident because of another person’s negligence, an injury lawyer can help you understand the legalities and help you recover the compensation you deserve. They can help you by gathering the evidence to support your claim, negotiating for you with the at-fault party’s insurance company, and representing you in civil court if necessary.

Recoverable compensation in an injury claim includes the following:

  • Medical bills: All medical costs that arise from the motorcycle accident can be recovered, including hospitalization, physicians’ bills and surgeries through rehabilitative care.
  • Wages: Wages lost due to the injured person’s inability to work are recoverable, including pension and insurance benefits and other bonuses they would have received. If they can no longer work due to disability, the wages are recoverable up to retirement age.
  • Compensation for pain and suffering: By using an injury lawyer to handle your case, you can recover compensation for your physical and emotional pain and suffering.
