Crash Reported on Interstate 5

A serious Cottonwood traffic collision between two vehicles on October 9 required the assistance of a medical helicopter to transport at least one person to a hospital. The crash occurred on southbound Interstate 5 just north of the Sunset Hills Drive off-ramp around 1:33 p.m. The collision caused the traffic to back up and come to a stop, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers who responded to the crash.

Tow trucks were called to remove both vehicles. The responding fire department called for a medical helicopter to land and export at least one person. For this reason, the southbound lane of I-5 was closed down. The CHP traffic accident detectives are handling an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Compensation for Personal Injuries

Personal injury claims can be filed when someone injures you due to their own negligence. In addition to your total medical expenses, your lost wages resulting from your inability to work, and your pain and suffering, you can face financial difficulties that were not your fault. The pain of being injured is enough without facing the financial price. People or entities responsible for causing those injuries should be responsible for paying for them.

Filing Your Claim Within the Deadline

Californians have two years to file a Cottonwood traffic collision injury claim before the statute of limitations expires. We know that sounds like a good bit of time. However, evidence to support your claim can quickly disappear, and witnesses scatter. Since you want to present as strong a claim as possible, filing your lawsuit quickly offers you the best chance of recovering the compensation you deserve.

Proving Fault in a Cottonwood Traffic Collision

Once an attorney has looked over your case and told you that you have the right to file a claim against the negligent party, he or she begins collecting the evidence needed to support your right to compensation. The following techniques are often employed:

  • An examination of the scene of the serious injury crash is made, and photos taken. Many times, evidence such as tire tracks and how the vehicles collided can provide proof of fault.
  • In some cases, forensic reconstruction of the accident is performed because it can show how the vehicles crashed and their positioning.
  • Any cameras in the area, such as those at businesses, homes and traffic lights, are checked to see if the serious injury collision was captured. If it was, a subpoena can be issued to obtain a copy. Insurance companies and juries accept this type of evidence.
  • The report on the accident filed by the police is checked to ensure its accuracy because an error could affect the client’s claim.
