Crash Kills Elk Grove Motorcyclist
A man from the city of Elk Grove received fatal injuries after losing control of his motorcycle on Highway 99 Monday night.
Grant M. Munoz, age 31, of Elk Grove was transported to a local hospital where many efforts to save him failed. Doctors at the hospital eventually pronounced him dead a few hours after being treated for his life-threatening injuries.
We understand that a preliminary investigation performed by the California Highway Patrol reveals that Mr. Munoz entered the freeway at about 8:40 p.m. on Monday evening at Calvine Road. Mr. Munoz was was traveling on his motorcycle in the southbound lane when he encountered a big rig pulling a flatbed trailer up ahead in his direction of travel.
CHP indicated that Mr. Munoz applied his brakes hard to avoid the collision, but unfortunately he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed.
