Crash Kills Roseville Pedestrian

I’m Ed Smith, a Roseville auto accident attorney. A pedestrian has passed away after being crashed into by a vehicle on Monday, October 31, 2016 in Roseville.

What Happened?

A 62-year-old male motorist was driving in his 1995 Ford Ranger southbound along Washington Boulevard in the vicinity of Pleasant Street when he crashed into a pedestrian. Authorities reported that the pedestrian was a man presumed to be in his 50’s and was transported to the hospital. The man was shortly pronounced deceased after the accident. The pedestrian has not been identified at this time.

How?

Investigators have not yet determined an exact cause for the accident. According to DeeDee Gunther, a spokeswoman from the Roseville Police Department, she announced that the pedestrian accident was reported at approximately 6:28 pm. Gunther stated that there was a crosswalk at the scene of the crash where the man was hit by the vehicle, however, it has not yet been determined by investigators whether the man was in the crosswalk. The crash caused Washington Boulevard in the vicinity of Elefa Street and Grove Street to be closed down. The roadway has reopened since the accident. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperating with authorities.

We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the man that passed away in this tragic accident.

Pedestrian Accidents

Pedestrian accidents are the most severe type of traffic incidents due to the vulnerability of a pedestrian against a moving vehicle. Any moving vehicle can cause a minor to traumatic injury that can cause chronic pain to a pedestrian regardless of how fast or how slow the driver is going. A driver that is engaging in negligent driving habits such as texting while driving and drunk driving can propose a higher risk to pedestrians on the street. Children are found to be at a higher risk of being involved in a motor vehicle vs. pedestrian accident due to their tendency to not pay attention to oncoming traffic. These types of accidents can cause serious injuries to children to the regions of the forearm, elbow, knee, ankle and foot. In these instances, contact an experienced personal injury attorney for more information.
